Meet Gail

Gail Marit, A Positive Force!

Gail Marit has always loved horses. As a child her family wasn’t able to own any, but that didn’t stop this determined spirit. Much to her parents’ dismay, Gail never hesitated to borrow a small rug from the house and throw it over the fuel tank outside. Her imaginary steed saddled, she would mount it and ride to her heart’s content—or at least until her father discovered what she was doing and shouted that she had to get off immediately before she blew herself up. Gail always obeyed him, and when she could, she’d ride a friend or neighbor’s horse. But she always knew that someday she would have her own horses.

Always an Optimist
It says a lot about this lively professional that Gail never for a moment doubted that her dream would come true. Even through years of frequent moves for her husband’s military career, she always knew that someday she would permanently plant her roots and have a stable full of horses. Today she has her stable, currently occupied by her beloved Palomino, Sundance, a retired race horse named Chrissy, a pony named Buck, and miniature horse Keegan—“who serves no other purpose than to be cute,” Gail laughs. The same powerful optimism that fueled this dream come true has fueled others as well—and not just for Gail, but for the many people whose lives she has touched over the years.

Positive Role Models
Ask Gail about the source of her powerful positivism, and she’s quick to point to the wonderful example set by her parents. Her father was a steelworker and her mother a stay-at-home mom, so the family wasn’t wealthy—but Gail’s parents always nurtured their children’s talents. When she learned to sew at 12, Gail’s father paid for half of the sewing machine she’d saved for, as well as all the fabric she needed. Her parents couldn’t afford to send their five children to college, but it’s a testimonial to their character that they always stressed the value of an education. Gail and her siblings were raised to believe that if they wanted a college education badly enough, they could make it happen—and all five did.

An Example to Others
Gail was married to her husband Gary and proud mother to Eric, Carrieann and Adam when she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Dayton with a degree in Education & Biology. For the next several years she embarked on a successful teaching career. Her optimistic outlook proved to be especially powerful for her middle school students. As a teacher, Gail had high expectations and made it very clear that she knew her students were capable of meeting them. “I believe that all people, but especially kids, will give you exactly what you expect of them,” she says. “the less you expect, the less they’ll give—and the more you expect, the more you’ll get.” Gail’s students loved her positive approach, and they always rose to the occasion for her.

A Positive Force
Gail’s endless supply of pure optimism is a key factor in her success as a real estate professional. She’s made it her personal mission to ensure that the process of buying or selling a home is as smooth and stress-free as possible. “My job is to take care of my clients so they don’t have to worry,” Gail says. To that end, she’s established a superb system of consistent contact and follow-up, keeping her clients constantly informed and making herself available to address any question or concern. Gail is able to do so because over the years she’s worked hard to become an expert in every aspect of the industry, from lending and escrow to HUD rules and regulations.

Gail has a real estate broker and salesperson license.  Once a teacher, always a teacher, so it’s no surprise to learn that she is deeply involved in agent training, helping them to become industry experts themselves. At the foundation of that training is the same philosophy Gail has followed all her life—that a positive outlook is a powerful force indeed.
